This afternoon Garth found a swarm of bees on bush in the backyard. The bees swarm occasionally when the queen hatches another queen. A group of bees (with the old queen) splits from the "old home place" and takes off to find new one. Usually we have to try and get the swarm to settle on a nearby branch or something by banging on metal objects. Once they're settled you have to get them in an empty hive. Sometimes you can just put the hive nearby and others you actually have to try and shake them into it...Garth didn't get away without a sting or two...

Paul and Daniel's Pennsylvania Trip
Well, we got another bus on eBay and went out yesterday to pick it up from PA. Or at least try. It didn't turn out quite like we expected...In other words the didn't bring the bus back. The plan is to turn it into a hay bale hauler. The bus itself is perfectly fine save for some brake line trouble but we'll have to work out some "paper problems" we ran into. We did haul a tractor out to Blake's tractor part source out there so the trip wasn't entirely for nothing.

Blake and Daniel's trip to Virginia
Below are a few photographs from the trip to VA Blake and I took last week. The purpose of the whole deal was to pick up a Deutz 80-06 tractor at a farm there to use for parts since our 80-06 has been in pieces for some time now. We had figured on driving there, picking up the tractor and driving back. The trip out was pretty uneventful compared to the trip home. We hit some really bad snow in WV and parts of PA. Visibility and traction were limited so we spent awhile doing 15MPH. Several semi tractors were off the road, jacknifed or just spinning their wheels on the hills. Real nice weather...
Once we were through the snow it went great. We got the tractor loaded and headed out only to notice at a nearby gas station that the truck hitch was bending from the weight. So, we shifted the tractor back on the trailer and spent above an hour finding a bolt shop and bolting the hitch up. We ended up staying the night at the house of some friends I have down there rather than driving home late into the night and next day.
On the road again the next day was just great! *sarcastically* We had three tire blowouts on the trailer and spent a lot of time either looking for a tire shop that had a 10ply trailer tire or driving at 10-15MPH for fear of blowing another before we could find a spare, or an air pump. All told we got home quite a few tires and nearly 24 hours after we'd left VA that morning. So, that's kind of what goes into buying a parts tractor. Really though...life would be a lot more boring if we didn't get into things like that. Everyone down in VA and WV seemed to like the tractor a lot. For some reason it attracted many comments...
