Sunday Picnic

On Sunday afternoon we invited all of the people from church and some other friends over for leftovers and fun. Since we got all of it ready anyhow, it's sure nice to be able to have two gatherings in a row instead of just one.

 :: Instead of a farm tour, we just drove around the neighborhood ::
 :: More volley ball ::

After almost everyone had left, Blake kept the little kids entertained with the bunnies.

 :: Kitchen chats ::
 :: Roasting marshmallows over... an open fire. Actually, Maria is roasting a biscuit on a foil covered broom handle. When the biscuit is done you spoon in some cream cheese and cherry pie filling. (A tasty little trick we learned from our friends, the Hochstetlers). =) ::
 ::Meanwhile, while Mom and Dad left with the two youngest children to take a load of straw bales that had been picnic seating to our Grandfather's house, Logan made us what was supposed to be speed pizza, but it ended up taking about 2 hours. One was burnt and the other was practically raw. ::

Farm Picnic

 Saturday was our annual farm picnic. One way to acquaint people with what we do here on our farm is to invite them over and show them around.  We fix them some bbq chicken, roast pork, and  homemade ice cream--all made with food from our farm.  Everyone brings a dish or two to share, too.

I think this is something like the 7th annual farm picnic that we've hosted.

 :: Hay ride around the farm ::
 :: The cows were very curious about all of the people who came to see them ::

 :: Water drinking contest ::

 :: Trent and Sam ::
 :: Bonfire in the evening ::
 :: The bunnies were a big hit ::
 :: A gathering of friends ::
 :: Christine's first dirt bike ride ::
 :: Roasting hot dogs over a very hot fire. ::
Thanks to all who came and made the day so great!!!
A big thank you to the people who helped set up and then helped us load up all of those straw bales again!!!
