Home Offices

There are some definite advantages to having a home office. I can see the snow out the window and not have to drive in it. I can get to work whenever I have a spare moment instead of having to look busy for an employer at expected intervals. (Well, if I don't count Paul....)

There are also drawbacks, especially if you have a 3 year old. Important notes disappear. There are Sharpie drawings all over the office furniture. The tape is never where I left it. The calculator paper is always in used up coils. (I must admit, I think the noise of it printing is fun, too!)

Today I had to smile at Clark. He was asking me, "How come people sitting at the 'puter always say, 'Uh humm, bye.'?" Apparently he's witnessed his share of phone conversations.

Randomness....

A few of us went down to Blake and Christine's and had cake and ice cream for Blake's birthday last night.

we used some trick candles..he finally just pinched them out

His hat is a birthday present from a friend :)

Sledding off the milk house roof:

Looks like a rather painful landing!!!

Happy Birthday, Blake!

It's hitting me this morning that for the past 20 years, we've ALWAYS had either a baby, a one year old, a two year old, and/or a three year old at our house!!!! 20 years!!!!

Blake was born 20 years ago on this date. I was 20 back then.

I remember reading a parenting article in a magazine at the hospital when he was born talking about how a new baby will totally change your life and things will never be the same again. Never again? I cried. I had a momentary lapse of worrying that I had embarked on a journey I would never be able to return from. I didn't know if I was up to the task.

Oh, I won't gloat and tell anyone I've somehow managed to suit myself up to the monumental task of nurturing, caring, molding, and shaping the life of another human being from the very first impressionable beginning. Actually, there have been quite a few occasions that I've noticed my children have taken up some undesirable quality I am quite sure they must've picked up from me on a day when I wasn't making good impressions!

Nevertheless, unstoppable journey that it is, I'm glad we were blessed enough to have ventured out.....and not just once either!

Happy Birthday, Blake! We're glad you came. Our lives have never been the same since.....but that's a good thing. As one of the other children mentioned, "He's now out of the terrible teens!" LOL.
