Today is the first of two that they're pouring cement for the basement floor. It is very cold outside, but I guess it doesn't matter for basement cementing????
Last week sometime we took the motor out of our Staber clothes washer and sent it to the company (here in Ohio) for a rebuild. My washer gets a real super heavy work out with a farm family of 13. That little motor has had to endure at least 10 times what an ordinary motor has to, so I think it's not so bad that it is now needing servicing.
The problem with not having a motor for the washer is people in this family keep producing dirty laundry by the boatload.
This is easily (ha!) remedied. My mother-in-law, whose house ajoins mine, is a most generous sharer of her things so I've been doing laundry over in her basement. Today I have both her automatic and her wringer washer going.
The trouble with them cementing our basement and me doing laundry in mother-in-law's basement is they've cemented themselves out of an exit on our side and now the cementers all have to go through mother-in-law's basement to get out. And as unhandy as *this* is, the only path that leads out is right over the hose that I've been filling the washer with.
I can't wait until this whole thing is done! The washer. The basement. The house cleaning---which is woefully behind because of all the mud. And the cement dust. And the barn clothes desposited in the only place they can be for now: the kitchen.
Blake just came in and told me he is in the process of splitting the only tractor that is working right now. I don't understand tractors really, but it has something to do with a bearing for the clutch. I'm not sure if he was kidding or not but he says 5 hours to split the tractor and 6 hours to put it back together. I spose he knows what he's saying, he's done it before. This will obviously interrupt the hauling of the manure that he had been doing.
Logan and Paul are out moving beef cattle just now. They've been naughty (the cows, that is).
Maria is making curry chicken for us to eat sometime later today. The rest are doing school.
