Twins

In form and feature, face and limb,
I grew so like my brother,
That folks got taking me for him,
And each for one another.
It puzzled all our kith and kin,
It reached a fearful pitch;
For one of us was born a twin,
Yet not a soul knew which.

One day, to make the matter worse,
Before our names were fixed,
As we were being washed by nurse,
We got completely mixed;
And thus, you see, by fate's decree,
Or rather nurse's whim,
My brother John got christened me,
And I got christened him.

This fatal likeness even dogged
My footsteps when at school,
And I was always getting flogged,
For John turned out a fool.
I put this question, fruitlessly,
To everyone I knew,
"What would you do, if you were me,
To prove that you were you?"

Our close resemblance turned the tide
Of my domestic life,
For somehow, my intended bride
Became my brother's wife.
In fact, year after year the same
Absurd mistakes went on,
And when I died, the neighbors came
And buried brother John.

It's no wonder we are confusing them from the back.

God touched our hearts so deep inside, our special blessing multiplied. ~Author Unknown

I may be a twin but I'm one of a kind. ~Author Unknown

Two faces to wash, and four dirty hands
Two insistent voices, making demands
Twice as much crying, when things go wrong
The four eyes closing, with slumber song
Twice as many garments, blowing on the line
Two cherubs in the wagon, soaking up sunshine
Work I do for twins, naturally comes double
But four arms to hug me, repay all my trouble.

Twice as much to love, two blessings from above. ~Author Unknown

A good neighbor will babysit. A great neighbor will babysit twins. ~Author Unknown (We left Brady and Brock with their aunts and uncles a few times.....completely failing to help them fully identify which was which before we left!)

It's double the giggles and double the grins, and double the trouble (ya think??) if you're blessed with twins. ~Author Unknown

OK: Name that twin. Think you know which is which in this picture? Leave a comment with your best guess. (P.S., Christine, you wait to guess 'cuz we know you'll know the answer. -wink-)
