My dad use to say that when I was little, and now that I'm older, living in an old farm house, I am appreciating the sentiments!
I took a look at the weather forecast late last week and noticed that we were in for some unseasonably warm weather this week. We all joined forces to take on some serious painting and varnishing in the house.
We moved 99% of our first floor belongings into the basement for the past few days. It'll be nice to re-situate upstairs again, but it's been a huge blessing to have a place to take this big family for a while.
We have some interesting dynamics going on here. Our older children are able to jump right in and do what needs to be done---sanding floors, patching walls, painting, varnishing. Clark and Miles are young enough to step into the paint pans and run across a newly varnished floor with nary a thought!
The other day I put myself out of commission with a tumble off a makeshift step. I'm still whimpering about my tailbone, but I'm thinking it doesn't hurt as bad as it first did----which makes me hopeful that it won't be like this forever!
As I type I hear RAIN!!! I am sure Paul is rejoicing about this. We've needed a good rain for quite some time now.
