Just before Christine left for Vermont, Blake and his crew put together a "new" truck for her to drive. B&C had a truck previous to this, but someone borrowed it and ended up totaling the thing. Opps. Soooo....no crying over wrecked trucks. Just go out in the parking lot and cobble together pieces of this one and that....and viola! New Truck. (Isn't it interesting how a writer can simplify a complicated matter and give it as happy a twist as he or she wishes just by condensing the story to a single paragraph?)
People have asked us how Blake is doing since he severed tendons in his hand trying to catch a falling truck transmission in January 2009. He is doing great, although the feeling in his hand is not nearly what it once was and his grip is slightly impaired and probably always will be. His guys are still a tiny bit wary when he is working with tools because occasionally he does lose his grip and things go flying.

Blake sometimes recruits the help of other members of the family as well, especially on Saturdays when his employees have the day off. The other day he got Maria and Mom to deliver trucks! It seems a tad awkward to walk into a place and say, "Hi, I'm Blake's mom and I'm here with your truck." But hey, I'm not complaining as he had finished servicing air conditioning in each of the "cool" trucks I drove!

Since Shannah has been helping Blake with secretarial work in Christine's absence, she has been at the shop a lot. Shannah seldom goes anywhere without her camera!

One of the most interesting wrecked vehicles that has come through there lately was a SUV that hit a guard rail. The rail went through the engine compartment and on into the vehicle interior. When it was all over, the driver was sitting uninjured in his seat with a leg on each side of a guard rail. The vehicle looked horrific, but the family that had been in it all survived.

Shannah's key job this week has been screening calls. Blake would be on the phone constantly if someone didn't screen his calls. Often he finds it advantageous to work late at night when other people are sleeping because no one calls him then!!
