I had Audrey,Shannah and Brady out in the shop with me last evening bagging the chicken I was cutting up. (Maria is in Michigan.) Anyhow, we put the job off a little too long, and it was going to eat into the little guys' bedtime routine. That was bothersome, but it couldn't be helped after I let the time slip away.
We did up 130 chickens or so and I finally was able to slip away at about 10PM while the others finished up . I came into the house and, of course, immediately wondered where the baby (Trevor) was.
"Oh, he's on the couch sleeping," Brock says efficiently.
Sure enough. There was my mostly bare little cherub crudely wrapped in a blanket, lying there sleeping soundly as could be. He had been freshly bathed and had a disposable diaper on....backward. I gave Trevor a kiss, adjusted his blanket, and made sure he wouldn't fall off the couch. I turned off the light.
Brock tells me "the only thing I could think of to put him to sleep was to show him Hogan's Heroes videos". Ha. I'm sure! Imagine the sacrifice he made to put his baby brother to sleep.....hmmmm....
Some time later, the others came in from putting away chicken. Logan and Blake drove in from picking up a truck at about 10:30PM. They had been expected home a lot sooner, but as Logan says, the old guy wanted to show them every old tractor he owned and how they all just fire right up when he starts them....only last night they weren't just firing right up! When Logan got home he had to go feed the beef cows....which, I heard, turned into a little fiasco in itself.
I'm not sure what time Micha came home from the football game. He had stayed after school and came home with someone after the game. Some of the others were just coming in from hay/chickens/trucks when he came home.
