Garth's New Truck

There is a book I read to the boys (last year? not sure) called Seventeenth Swap by Eloise McGraw where the boy in the story traded, traded, traded items until he had a valuable enough item to trade for what he really wanted. Anyhow....I think that must be what Garth is doing.

Maria and Garth have wanted to buy a Bug. Notice that this is not a Bug. It is a rickety old Chevy pickup truck. Some guy brought walnuts over in it the other day and Garth asked him if he'd sell it to him. Sure enough. Sold it to him for $300.

So, what's a 13 year old going to do with a rusty old pickup truck? He can't even legally drive the thing. He actually had Maria drive it home for him when he went to pick it up. He says he's going to take it to the junk yard and expects to get about $600 for it.

My son, the junk dealer....just like his brothers before him.....

...Of lazy Sunday afternoons...

So, we had a hard week of it and when Sunday came we were pretty much exhausted. Thank God for the one day we have off of doing walnuts!!! This is our day in (what else) pictures!!! It was the perfect day for photo shoots. *WARNING: it's hard to pick out the best photos to post, so there is a TON of pictures. (as usual) ;-)
