Here Shannah enthusiastically (for the picture) washes the oven door.

Here she is showing off the lovely varnish freshly put on the doors by her mother.

Logan and Trevor are now remounting the doors.

After he gets done reading this last article, Logan will finish laying down papers in preparation of painting his bedroom.

All the recruits are on the job getting 'er done.

"Yes, Logan, this is GREEN PAINT!!!!!"

Want to take a tour upstairs?

Bedroom #1.

Bedroom #2.

Bedroom #3.

The above was something like 5 gallons of paint and 4 gallons of varnish!

Somehow Brady thought painting this swing was going to be fun. Knowing that it wasn't, I handed him my brush. hee hee. I took it back awhile after I snapped the picture.

Cinnamon rolls set to rise.

Don't let them fool you. These hard workin' boys do get a break once in a while to tinker around a bit.

Ready???

~Colleen (and Audrey) both of whom are missing from the above pictures. Hey, somebody has to do the documenting.....

What we've been up to lately...

No one has had much time for blogging lately (obviously).

Here is a glimpse of what's been happening around here. Will post more once all the projects are finished.

We painted 2 of the bedrooms upstairs the other week...

We also varnished up there:

A couple weeks ago the cupboard doors in the kitchen got taken off the redo and only yesterday got varnished. Today we put them back up.

We are making kitchen curtain, too.

Today Trent, Miles and Clark are getting moved back into their room. Then Logan and Garth's room is being varnished and painted

And some other pictures:

He's such a happy little guy!

Trevor

It would take up too much space to put all of the best pictures on here, so I thought I would make a collage. Hope you like it! =)

Duct tape to the rescue

Paul and I went to a farm store today to stock up on some hardware items as it was the store's annual open house. We opted to take Clark and Trent with us.

I got Clark his complimentary ice cream cone and took him and Trent out to the truck to wait for Paul. A quick check told me what I had already gotten a whiff of earlier: Clark needed a diaper change. (We will save the fact that he is 3 and still in diapers for another time....)

Anyhow, when you run to the hardware for a few minutes with 3 and 8 year olds, diaper bags don't necessarily cross your mind. At least it didn't mine. Good thing for me I generally stuff disposable diapers in the vehicles for just such emergencies.

I had Trent look around and sure enough there was a diaper behind the truck seat. It was a little greasy. Clark took one look at it and said, "That's dirty!"

I gave him the old "yes, dear, but you know when you're 3 and still wearing diapers and you are in this situation you have to take what you can get" lecture. Plus, I told him the inside was clean and that's what mattered most.

Well, I proceeded to secure the tabs and wouldn't you know, story-book-fashion one of the tabs ripped off the only diaper I had. I immediately thought of duct tape. Aren't people always joking duct tape is good for anything?? I found none.

About this time Paul gets to the truck and I asked hopefully (but doubting), "Did you happen to buy duct tape??"

"Yeah, why?" he asks.

Voila! We laughed at this whole manuever. The diaper was oily/greasy enough that the tape actually wouldn't stick, so we took it a whole round around him. Sorta like a duct tape belt. I think the whole thing hung a little low and wasn't the most comfortable, but it worked till we got home.
