It is morning time at our house. Normally Geof, our helper, comes and gets the milking started before any of the rest of us creak out of bed....well that is, except Miles who generally is up and at 'em and in the barn for almost every morning milking to help chase cows. This morning he was talking to me in the kitchen before he went out and after a while he says, "Well, I gotta get to the barn." My little man is growing up! I think he likes having a "real" job like everyone else, but he doesn't often end up with one because he has a bunch of capable big brothers. Trent was only too glad to let him have his morning milking slot! lol. (Trent is *not* a morning person.)
This morning, being Monday, is Geof's morning off, so Paul is milking. Miles is helping him. The other boys (finally!) got up and are out doing their normal chores. The twins give a bag of feed to the chickens and open the bus doors. Then they give water to the calves. Garth feeds the cows round bales of hay with the skid steer.
Speaking of chicken buses, when Paul was at the tool expo with our hardware booth on Saturday someone mentioned to him that our chicken buses were in the newspaper---again. Sure enough. I got Paul's text and went directly out to get the paper and there smack dab on the front page of the region section was the picture!
Paul was saying he thinks we are going to start tapping maple trees. We have friends who have already done that! This is really early. As I sit in the office, I can hear the birds chirping away springtime songs. Makes me wonder if we are going to get winter at all this year??? The children sure have missed their skating parties, and it looks like we will be finishing the season without even having had a single one!
Hopefully Baby Clay wakes up feeling better. Poor little guy was fevering for two nights in a row and didn't feel good all day yesterday. He knows one word, "Mom" and he uses it a lot right now to call me back to hold him should I happen to put him down too soon! Clay and I missed going to Sandy's family's house last evening with the rest of the family and we stayed home from church yesterday morning, too.
